This week our team is celebrating the announcement of our engagement with Bauer Media Group, which will see SPRYLAB delivering its innovative and interactive e-publishing platform across four key markets: the UK, Germany, Australia and the US.
The partnership will support the growth of Bauer Media’s digital publishing arm, with all of Bauer’s international interactive editions due to be migrated to Purple DS® in a phased execution throughout 2017.
To date Bauer UK and Bauer Australia, have successfully migrated a number of interactive apps to Purple DS®. This includes Bauer’s biggest digital magazine brands – Empire UK & USA, Car, Bike, Practical Photography as well as Women’s Weekly, Myers Emporium and Gourmet Traveller.
FLEXIBILITY AND SCALABILITY
Commenting on his team’s priorities in searching for a new digital publishing partner, Jim Foster, Head of e-Publishing UK at Bauer Media Group, said: “More flexibility and support for editorial teams was top of our agenda – as was the need to have device-optimised apps that could be created with minimal impact on workflows.”
With the functionality needed to support the achievement of both these objectives, Purple DS® was identified as an ideal solution for the Bauer team. And, with the ability to provide editorial titles with enhanced publishing workflows, from manually created pixel perfect apps using Adobe InDesign®, through to automated content delivery, both small and large editorial teams can now create aesthetically optimised content – all with minimum impact on time and resource.
This scalability, combined with the solution’s high degree of flexibility, was key to Bauer Media Group’s decision to engage with SPRYLAB, and will enable weekly digital magazines such as Grazia and MCN to be published in as little as one day going forwards.
CREATING COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
So what results are being seen so far?
Jim Foster commented further “Just one month post migration, the art team at leading consumer magazine, Empire, has been able to produce a top-quality, fully interactive digital edition three days faster than was previously possible. This extra time is now being used to improve the app further, giving Bauer Media Group significant competitive advantage by enabling the creation of ever more impressive digital versions.”
Speaking on behalf of the SPRYLAB team this week, CEO Stephan Heck, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Bauer Media Group – a globally renowned and highly regarded publishing business. The company is a leader in its field and we’re delighted to hear that both the team at Bauer, and the editorial teams working at their prestigious publications, are already experiencing quick time to value with regards time, resource and cost savings.”
“We developed and built the Purple DS® platform and infrastructure to support a contract of this size, and our engagement with the team at Bauer Media Group is great validation of our robust offering. After the successful migration of four publications to date, we are now focusing on supporting and training the editorial teams at these titles so that they can fully utilise the innovative Purple DS® features in order to optimise revenue possibilities.”
