Two weeks ago we headed to the PPA Festival in London. In this article you can find out more about what experiences we made on the conference.
The PPA Festival – What’s it all about?
This year’s conference of the Professional Publishing Association took place in London on 10 May 2017. The PPA Festival is regarded by publishing experts as a unique event that brings together representatives from across the UK’s magazine and media industry.
At the conference, delegates had the opportunity to browse exhibitor booths and discover new products and companies, and to attend inspiring talks and sessions across six stages.
Purple DS® was represented at the event with a booth, which offered attendees the chance to learn more about our flexible e-publishing solution, as well as a speaking slot on stage, where we participated in a discussion with Bauer Media on the topic of native app strategies.
Sharing the Spotlight on the Together Stage
Right after lunch it was our turn to take the stage as part of a joint presentation with Bauer Media on the TOGETHER STAGE. This stage dedicated to collaboration and partnership was an apt setting in light of the recently announced global partnership between SPRYLAB and Bauer Media.
The panel discussion featured Jim Foster (Head of ePublishing – Bauer Media), Steve Herbert (Head of Publishing Motorcycling Division – Bauer Consumer Media), and John Rahim (Senior Manager Marketing & Sales – SPRYLAB UK), sharing their thoughts on successful strategies for producing native apps.
More efficiency and flexibility after migration
In their contributions, the Bauer representatives spoke about the BIKE and Empire interactive app magazines, which were recently migrated to Purple DS®. Goals of the migration included increasing the reach and revenue of the magazines as well as improving the workflow processes. Steve Herbert praised Purple DS® as an efficient e-publishing tool that had enabled him to reduce the amount of time needed to produce the digital edition of BIKE magazine by 40%. Jim Foster had opted for Purple DS® because the software offers the flexibility he needs to produce nearly 170 titles. The software is suited to the production of smaller publications by small teams as well as high-volume publications by larger teams.
Steve Herbert and Jim Foster also used the opportunity to thank SPRYLAB for the fantastic collaboration with Bauer. Their effusive praise managed to leave our normally verbose Sales Manager John Rahim nearly speechless with joy and embarrassment.
