To be honest, our programmers are largely unfamiliar with Sweat-inducing work, and yet they have had a lot of fun with the fitness and functional training world of the new High5 fitness chain in recent months.
High5 is a partner brand of McFIT and was first announced to the public at the beginning of the year via a landing page programmed by SPRYLAB. SPRYLAB also programmed an app for High5, which acts as a supporting terminal in all gyms.
About McFIT
McFIT, or the Rainer Schaller Global Group (formerly McFIT Global Group), became the market leader in the fitness studio sector in Germany and Europe in the 2000s under the leadership of Rainer Schaller.
Today, the RSG Group operates around 300 studios in eight countries and claims to reach more than two million customers. The RSG Group’s portfolio currently comprises 14 brands. The core business is made up of the McFIT, High5 Gym and John Reed Fitness brands.
Reduction to the essentials
Bringing the functional training fitness trend from the USA to Europe, High5 offers numerous opportunities to perform a wide range of functional exercises in the ‘Functional Box’. Members also have access to a fully equipped free weights, equipment and cardio area. High5 opened its first gyms in Germany and Austria in April this year. Further openings are planned by the end of the year. In addition to the training concepts, the infrastructure was also adapted to the High5 vision during the planning phase.
The Tablet Studio app is for new and existing High5 members. Visitors who have previously registered online can use the app to book a trial session or take out a High5 membership directly. By reducing the administrative burden on studio staff, instructors and studio managers can spend more time with members in the classrooms.
Existing members can log into their personal dashboard with a private account. They can update their personal details and book or cancel training packages.
High5 members can bring a friend of their choice to train with them using the ‘Friend Option’. The friend registers in advance and logs in to the workout using the member card via an NFC interface in the app. The app runs in locked mode to prevent unauthorised use of the tablets.
Realisation in close cooperation with other service providers
Several partners supported us in the realisation of the app. McFIT developed the concept and style guide itself. In addition to programming the iOS and Android apps, SPRYLAB optimised the web style guide for the tablet app and adapted it to the special features of mobile devices.
The backend of the app was implemented by Direct Online, McFIT’s IT partner. The High5 website was created by agency Brandung. The agreements between the partners resulted in a lively exchange and a close and cordial cooperation.
