Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the largest independent medical humanitarian organisation. The private charity provides emergency medical aid in crisis and war zones. It was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Médecins Sans Frontières employs around 65,000 people worldwide (45,000 full-time positions). 91% of them come from the more than 70 project countries. In order to maintain its independence, the majority of its funding (97.9%) comes from private donors.
