Conception and technical implementation of a collaboration tool

Magazine Publishing Software for Publishers

The challenge:

BILD Online wanted to let its readers participate live in the creation of a story or news about a major event. Instead of just presenting the finished article, the aim was to give readers an insight into the journalistic work and the creation of the article in real time.

Our solution:

SPRYLAB developed a moderation tool that allows the editorial team to publish individual journalists’ contributions to the BILD Slack chat directly on the website in a live widget. Contributions can include text, images or videos. This feature helps to increase traffic to the website.

What makes it special:

Journalism on a new level and in absolute real time. Scalability of the service according to website traffic to ensure high quality and availability.

An overview of the project

  • Contributions (text, images, videos) are submitted by journalists in the BILD Slack editorial chat
  • The editorial team moderates the contributions and plays them live on the website. The reader thus participates in the creation process of the live reporting
